Spider, SpiderLang or SpiderScript, is another attempt at having a better feature set and language syntax for JavaScript.
It draws inspiration from more mature and well-organized languages like Python, Swift, Go or C# and tries to fix previous JavaScript supersets like Dart, TypeScript, or CoffeeScript.
This is done by a series of design goals that have been at the basis of the language, goals like code safety, easy debugging, strong concurrency features, and an easy syntax.
Spider can produce ES5 or ES6 JavaScript code, and all its output can also be fully-compatible with the syntax of various JavaScript frameworks like jQuery, AngularJS, Meteor, or Sails.
What is new in this release:
- Separate a lot of CLI logic to lib/spider
- Default behaviour for CLI
- Refactor spider.compile API
- Fix source map path bug with ES5 target
- Fix "System is not defined" error when using Spider API
Limitations:
- Still under development.
