Ubuntu AMD Catalyst Driver Install

Ubuntu AMD Catalyst Driver Install is a freely distributed graphical utility designed to allow you to easily install the latest available AMD Catalyst video driver on your Ubuntu Linux operating system, as well as on many other GNU/Linux systems that are derived from the Ubuntu platform.

Automatically detects your AMD/ATI graphics card

The software comes as a graphical user interface written in GTK+ and engineered to automatically detect the installed ATI or AMD GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) on your computer, selecting the best video driver and options for installation.

How does it work?

Ubuntu AMD Catalyst Driver Install is a pretty straightforward tool, that will automatically download the official AMD Catalyst installer, create the DEB package and install it on your Ubuntu (32bit or 64bit) operating system.

Supports AMD Catalyst’s Beta channel

An interesting feature of this project is the built-in support for installing the latest Beta versions of the AMD Catalyst proprietary display drivers, as well as Legacy version of AMD Catalyst, if your hardware is supported, of course. As explained above, the Beta and Legacy installers are also downloaded from the official website.

Supported operating systems and availability

As its name suggests, Ubuntu AMD Catalyst Driver Install was built especially for the Ubuntu Linux operating system, supporting all the releases that are still maintained by Canonical. It is also possible to work well on other Ubuntu-based Linux distributions, but it was not tested. Additionally, it should work very well with all the official Ubuntu flavors, including Xubuntu, Kubuntu, Edubuntu, Ubuntu Studio, Ubuntu GNOME, Ubuntu Kylin and Lubuntu.

The application is currently distributed for free, as pre-built binary packages in the DEB file format, supporting both 64-bit (adm64) and 32-bit (i386) hardware architectures of the Ubuntu Linux distribution. Please note that it is not an open source project and its source code is not available for download.
