Bootstrap Image Gallery heavily uses Bootstrap's Modal widget, for showcasing and transitioning from one image to another.
Otherwise, most of the code is based on the blueimp Gallery script, a similar photo album component, but without the Bootstrap dependency.
The component can easily be setup, doesn't require that might JavaScript knowledge to modify and customize, and can also be used to view video files as well.
This not only includes HTML 5 video, but Vimeo, and YouTube clips as well.
Bootstrap Image Gallery also doesn't add that much custom CSS, working with base Bootstrap styles. This means it will probably work with most other Bootstrap themes.
In-depth documentation is provided with the gallery's README file.
