Aisleriot is an open source piece of software that provides users with a collection of over 80 types of Solitaire card games for the GNOME desktop environment. Besides, this game is easily played only with the help of the mouse.

Under the hood

The program has been written in the C programming language and its graphical user interface uses the latest GTK+ GUI toolkit, that's way it is attached to the GNOME desktop environment. However, it can also be installed under any other open source graphical desktop, as long as all requirements are met.

It is also important to mention here that the rules for the aforementioned games were written in Scheme, the GNOME scripting language. It is available for download as a source archive, allowing users to configure, compile and install the application on any GNU/Linux operating system.
