extcarve is an open source command-line utility that helps users to recover data from EXT2, EXT3 and EXT4 file systems. It is also a semantic file carving tool.
extcarve is part of the giis (gET iT i sAY) project and it is engineered in such a way that supports various file formats, including MP3, JPG, PNG, GIF, HTML, PDF, PHP, as well as C/C++ programs.
The application is also able to only analyze the disk without recovering any files, it can recover data from file image, recover files with increased file/block limit, and recover files by type.
What is new in this release:
