With RSS Live Links you will enjoy Firefox-style RSS live bookmarks in Google Chrome.
For those who like Firefox "Live Bookmarks", this is a browser extension that provides a similar capability - i.e. you can read your feeds' headlines directly from a menu-style pop-up without having to go to the home page or a specialized reader.
RSS Live Links can be registered as an RSS reader with the "RSS Subscriptions" and "RSS Subscriptions Plus" extensions.
Alternatively, use the built-in feed detection facility to subscribe to feeds found in current tabs.
About Google Chrome
Google Chrome is a browser that combines a minimal design with sophisticated technology to make the web faster, safer, and easier.
Features:
- Automatic visual notification of updates to subscribed feeds.
- Menu-style pop-up list of subscribed feeds, with visual distinction between new, unread, and read feeds.
- Click on a feed to see a list of its items, with visual distinction between new, unread, and read items.
- Configurable "visual distinction" options for each "seen-state".
- "Seen-state" is saved across browser sessions (see known issues below).
- Support for "Real" Live Bookmarks (i.e. a real bookmark folder for each feed with regularly updated contents).
What is new in this release:
- Better tootips for items, performance-related mods
What is new in version 0.9.34:
- A choice of more appropriate sounds than the original > "boing"!
What is new in version 0.9.31:
- Added more refined font styling options, along with configurable data request timeout and "Time-to-live" at the global and feed-specific levels. Also fixed feed error update issues and added a "sound notification disable" action to the pop-up
What is new in version 0.9.28:
- Fixed the non-clearing "Loading..." message problem
- Renamed "More Stories" to "Feed Home" - more accurate label
- Changed the RSS Live Links button notification badge to be the number of feeds with unseen items
- Added optional animation of the RSS Live Links button on notification of updates
- Added optional sound notification of updates - with a very annoying default sound!
- Added rudimentary import/export facility to the options page
- Added "next" and "previous" buttons to the "hide-on-open" view for eaiser navigation (with a "Shift" option to go to the next/previous unseen feed)
What is new in version 0.9.24:
- Fixed duplicate URLs in detected feeds lists.
- Fixed display problems when two feeds have the same name (which is allowed).
- Pop-up display improvements (especially when two scroll bars are displayed).
- Help icon replaced with a slightly smaller one.
- Provide suggested name when a feed is subscribed to via one of the RSS Subscriptions extensions.
- Added refresh options button to options page.
- Added logo to RSS Subscriptions extensions hook page.
Requirements:
- Google Chrome
Limitations:
- "Real" live bookmarks have certain behavioral restrictions due to the nature of the Chrome extension bookmarks API. See the help file for details.
- "Real" live bookmarks currently have an update problem - old items are not being deleted. I am investigating.
- Note, this is a "browser" extension, not a "page" extension. Therefore it CANNOT place an icon IN the title bar (e.g. for available feeds).
