Word War vi

Word War vi is your basic side-scrolling shoot 'em up '80s style arcade game.

You pilot your "vi"per craft through core memory, rescuing lost .swp files, avoiding OS defenses, and wiping out those memory hogging emacs processes.

Controls:

Pressing 'q' puts in a quarter and starts the game.
Arrow keys (or, of course vi's hjkl keys) to move
'z' or spacebar fires signal number -9 (lazer)
'b' injects NULL pointer into execution stream (drops a bomb)
'c' forks to evade pursuers (throws chaff)
'A' advances to a new level (This is really just for debugging)
'9' commits suicide (just for debugging)

What is new in this release:

• The license of two music files was changed from CC BY-SA 2.0 to CC BY-SA 3.0 to satisfy Debian.
• Explosions were made to look more spherical.

What is new in version 1.00:

• The makefile was modified to allow cross compilation so that Word War vi can run on OpenPandora.
• The default explosion shape was changed from rectangular to round.

What is new in version 0.25:

• New enemies, Tesla towers and Gunwheels, were added to later levels.
• The difficulty of levels was tweaked to try to make the increase in difficulty ramp up more smoothly and gradually.
• Cosmetic improvements were made to the appearance and motion of the Space Octopi.
• The duration of Xbox 360 controller rumble effects was shortened to 1/4th of a second to make the effects correlate more sharply with the events which cause them.

What is new in version 0.24:

• Put frickin' lasers on the heads of the Space Octopi.
• And on Stallman's Airships as well.
• Improved dead zone on xbox 360 controller joystick.
• Made various things which were excessively hard to shoot a little easier.

What is new in version 0.23:

• "--xmas" mode.
