Linux Secure Remix (formerly Ubuntu Secured Remix) is an open-source and free distribution of Linux derived from the world’s most popular operating system, Ubuntu, and built around the Boot-Repair, OS-Uninstaller and Clean-Ubiquity applications.

It supports both 32-bit and 64-bit hardware platforms, distributed as Live DVDs

This Ubuntu remix is available for download from its official homepage or via Softoware (see download links above) as two Live DVD ISO image or approximately 800MB in size each, suitable for both 32-bit (i386) and 64-bit (amd64) computers.

As mentioned, this is an Ubuntu-based operating system. The look and functionality of the boot prompt has not been changed from the official ISO images of Ubuntu, which means that the user can wait seven seconds for the Live media to start automatically.

However, you can access the boot menu by pressing any key on your keyboard during the 7-second timeout limit. From there, you can try the OS without installing it, start the installer directly, boot an existing OS from the first disk drive detected by the BIOS, check the integrity of the bootable medium (only if using a CD media) or perform a system memory diagnostic test.

A full featured Ubuntu desktop

Linux Secure Remix is a full features Ubuntu remix. It includes the same modern and productive Unity desktop interface, as well as Ubuntu’s carefully tuned selection of applications.

On top of the above, it contains the Boot-Repair, OS-Uninstaller and Clean-Ubiquity software packages, allowing the user to perform various system administration tasks like bootloader recovery, MBR backup, etc.

Summing up, Linux Secure Remix is a standard Ubuntu derivative that is in no way more secure than the original Ubuntu operating system. It just includes some neat utilities that help you to repair broken bootloaders, uninstall OSes or perform MBR backups.
