Your First Recording

To record a new tape in TapeDeck, simply click the Record button. A tape begins recording, and the audio level is displayed while you are recording. When you are done recording, press the stop button.

You can also put the in-progress recording on hold by using the Pause button. Press the Pause button to hold the recording, and press it again to resume recording. This is a handy feature if you are interrupted in the middle of a meeting with a call, or a lecture has a break in the middle.

Recording tips:

  1. You can also record using Z on the keyboard, pause with N, and stop with B. In fact, the bottom row of keys (ZXCVBN on a US keyboard layout) mimics the set of buttons on the main window.
  2. You can edit the title, color, and notes on the tape while recording. (See Marking Your Tapes for instructions)
  3. If you would like to access TapeDeck's recording features outside the application, check out the hotkey preferences to set up your preferred global Record, Pause, and Stop keystrokes.
