tetex-upmethodology is an open source and free command-line software that provides a complete set of LaTeX styles that permit you to write documents according to a UP (Unified Process) or RUP (Rational Unified Process) based documents, including document version, authors, history, validators, task management, helping tools and specification.

Features at a glance

Among tetex-upmethodology's major features we can mention document history, task management, design and specification documentation, and helping tools. It is based on various external definitions of styles and layouts. The software can be successfully used to write scientific documents, such as engineering thesis, master thesis, PhD thesis, and reports.

Getting started with tetex-upmethodology

To install and use the tetex-upmethodology program on your personal computer, you must first download the latest version from Softoware, where it is distributed as a native installer for Debian-based operating systems and a source tarball.

If you use the source archive, extract its contents and copy the content of the extracted directory into one of your texmf folder, such as "$HOME/.texmf" or "/usr/share/texmf/tex/latex/upmethodology". Then, open a terminal emulator and update the LaTeX databases using the ‘mktexlsr’ and ‘update-updmap --quiet’ commands.

Under the hood

Looking under the hood of the tetex-upmethodology program, we can notice that it is written entirely in LaTeX. No compilation is required to install and use the project (see detailed installation instructions above).

The program is distributed as a source archive, as well as a native installer for GNU/Linux operating systems that use the DEB package manager, such as Ubuntu, Debian, Linux Mint or their derivatives. It is compatible with computers supporting either of the 32-bit or 64-bit CPU architectures.
