Squire is a rich text editor created using JavaScript and HTML5.
It can be used in any project and help developers provide a text editing component.
Most text editing controls like making text bold, italic or underline are included, along with inserting links, changing fonts, text size, direction or alignment.
The default Squire package comes without a graphic package, letting developers create their own text formatting toolbars.
This approach is much more professional than providing developers with a built-in toolbar UI, which in most cases needs to be stripped down and re-built to integrate with custom projects.
There's a ready-made toolbar UI included in the sample project download package, just in case you're too lazy to build your own.
The Squire component was created for usage in modern browsers, has no external dependencies and was created for dealing with text alone. This means no support for inserting iframes, Flash movies or anything else, Squire not including support for such features. For this, use more advanced/bulky tools like CKEditor or TinyMCE.
Requirements:
- JavaScript enabled on client side
- HTML 5 enabled browser
