markItUp! works by overtaking a normal textarea and adding various controls on top, allowing users to easily format their text using Word-like controls and buttons.
Once the text styled and formatted to look whatever the user wants, markItUp! will convert it into the desired syntax and send it to a server or backend to be saved.
Many well known markup languages are supported out of the box, but markItUp! also lets developers implement their very own custom syntax as well.
The plugin can be used with any Web page, or it can be integrated as a plugin for more complex Web applications like CMSs, blogs, forums, and so on.
Currently the markItUp! has been used and implemented in platforms like Wolf CMS, BIGACE, Cotonti, Galleon, Perch, or PivotX.
