Bootstrap Markdown works just like any other Markdown WYSIWYG editor, only it is specifically wrapped and packaged to work properly inside a Bootstrap-powered application.
It also relies on the Bootstrap CSS, so it won't work without it at all.
The editor itself is very flexible, allowing developers to choose what controls to show and what to not, while at the same time allowing them to add custom buttons to the editor if ever needed.
Besides the editing more, there a "preview" mode as well, where the user can view entered text and Markdown syntax as it would be compiled to HTML and presented on the frontend.
