Sublime Text is a commercial, freely distributed and cross-platform software project that has been designed from the ground up to act as a sophisticated text editor for people who want to edit code, prose and markup.

Features at a glance

Key features includes a slick and attractive graphical user interface (GUI), high performance with low hardware requirements, the ability to quickly rename variables by using multiple selections, create batch edits with multiple selections, and instant access to functionality through the Command Palette.

Additionally, the application allows users to easily and quickly navigate between the files of a large project using or display a function, word or line within a file by using the Goto Anything functionality, as well as to find and replace text using regular expressions.

Distraction free mode

Like any other serious text editor, Sublime Text comes with a distraction free mode that allows you to focus on what you’re writing at the moment, simply by activating a full screen mode where Sublime Text is the only app you’ll see. The Distraction Free Mode can be activated from the View menu.

A highly customizable app

The software is highly customizable, allowing you to customize anything, from key bindings, completions and snippets to menus and macros, using JSON files. Of course, this means that Sublime Text is a flexible application that users can specify settings per-project basis and per-file type.

Supported operating systems and availability

Sublime Text is a multi-platform application supported on any GNU/Linux distribution, as well as on the Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X operating systems. It is available for download as pre-built binary packages designed to support both 32-bit and 64-bit instruction set architectures.
