Written in Ruby and JavaScript, the system was built by the GitHub Team and currently powers the GitHub Wikis.
Gollum wikis are simply Git repositories that adhere to a specific format.
Content can be edited with a text editor or IDE, with the built-in web interface or with the Gollum Ruby API.
Gollum follows the rules of Semantic Versioning and uses TomDoc for inline documentation.
For security and compatibility reasons Gollum wikis may not contain custom CSS or JavaScript. These tags will be stripped from the converted HTML.
MAthematical equations and source code syntax highlighting is also supported in page content.
