CacheBox

By default, CacheBox is included with all ColdBox packages, version 3 or higher.

This doesn't mean CacheBox needs ColdBox to work, developers being able to use CacheBox as a stand-alone application.

As its name hints, CacheBox is a powerful caching toolkit for ColdFusion, providing all the tools necessary to create and manipulate cached data.

CacheBox includes its own caching mechanism, but also uses techniques from other caching systems (the reason for which it's being referred as a caching aggregator).

The included caching mechanism are the basic ColdFusion 9.x caching function, EHCache and Railo's caching system.

Besides these, CacheBox also supports custom caching providers, added (coded) manually by the developers.

The benefit of using an aggregated caching system resides in a broader feature set, along with a broader data storage support system, system that includes in-memory storage, disk storage, JDBC storage or CouchDB storage.

Besides aggregating different caching engines, CacheBox can also aggregate different configurations for the same caches, providing a rich aggregation event model for various situations and environments.
