Bitnami MODX Module

Bitnami MODX Module is a free and easy-to-use module that can be used on top of a Bitnami LAMP installation and it has been specifically designed for the MODX CMS web-based application, in addition to the Bitnami MODX Stack product. It is supported on the Linux, Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X operating systems.

What is MODX?

MODX is a free, easy-to-use and open source application framework and CMS (Content Management System) that runs on top of a web server and requires a database to store its data. It can be used to build rich, dynamic websites for your clients.

Installing Bitnami MODX Module

Bitnami MODX Module is distributed on Softoware as native installers, which have been created using BitRock’s cross-platform installer tool and are compatible with all GNU/Linux operating systems. To install MODX on top of your LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP) server, download the file that corresponds to your computer’s hardware architecture (64-bit or 32-bit), make it executable, run it and follow the instruction displayed on the screen.

Run MODX on the cloud or virtualize it

Thanks to Bitnami, users can also run MODX on the cloud with their hosting platform or by using the the pre-built cloud images for the Amazon EC2 and Windows Azure cloud providers, as well as to virtualize it, thanks to Bitnami’s virtual appliance for VMware ESX, ESXi and Oracle VirtualBox virtualization software, based on the latest LTS release of the Ubuntu Linux distribution.

The MODX Docker container and stack

Besides the Bitnami MODX Module product reviewed here, Bitnami also offers an all-in-one solution that greatly simplifies the deployment of the MODX CMS software on personal computers, called BitNami MODX Stack.
