Bitnami Ametys Stack is a free and multiplatform software project that allows you to easily and effortlessly deploy the Ametys CMS application and all of its runtime dependencies on desktop computers or laptops. It is distributed as native installers, virtual machine images, a Docker container, as well as cloud images.
What is Ametys?
Ametys CMS is a multifaceted, free and open source web-based CMS (Content Management System) application, which allows anyone to build powerful websites, portals, corporate Wikis or personal blogs with minimum effort. Its state-of-the-art plugin architectures can add attractive features like calendars, newsletters, comments feed, support for social networks, and more.
Installing Bitnami Ametys Stack
As mentioned, the Ametys stack offered by Bitnami is distributed mainly as native installers, built with the BitRock InstallBuilder tool and designed to support all mainstream operating systems, including GNU/Linux, Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X.
To install the Ametys CMS application on your personal computer, you will have to download the package that corresponds to your PC’s hardware architecture (32-bit or 64-bit), run it and follow the on-screen instructions.
Host Ametys in the cloud
In addition to installing Ametys on personal computers, you can host it in the cloud, thanks to Bitnami’s pre-build cloud images for the Amazon EC2 and Windows Azure cloud hosting services.
Virtualize Ametys on VMware and VirtualBox
Users will also be able to virtualize the Ametys application on the Oracle VirtualBox and VMware ESX/ESXi virtualization software, as Bitnami provides a virtual appliance based on the latest LTS release of the world’s most popular free operating systems, Ubuntu Linux. Additionally, an Ametys Docker container will be available for download on the project’s page.
