ReadyMedia is an open soruce command-line software written in C and designed to act as a non-interactive daemon for streaming files over a local network.

Previously known as MiniDLNA, ReadyMedia offers a simple, easy-to-use and DLNA-compatible UPnP media server engineered only for Linux operating systems.

Originally developed by a NETGEAR employee, for the ReadyNAS product line, ReadyMedia aims to be fully compliant with DLNA/UPnP-AV clients.

ReadyMedia supports streaming of various multimedia files, including but not limited to FLAC, OGG, MP3, JPEG, PNG, and any other file format supported by FFmpeg.

What is new in this release:

  • Add magic container infrastructure.
  • Add magic containers for 50 recent items for each category.
  • Fix bad null termination in AAC parsing.
  • Fix requests for the last byte of a file, which affected MKV playback on Philips TV's.
  • Support 64-bit time_t values

What is new in version 1.1.1:

  • Add network interface monitoring support on Linux.
  • Don't require a configured network interface to start up.
  • Fix some minor spec compliance issues.
