MplayerXP is an open source, free and multi-platform command-line software that provides an MPlayer-based video playback application packed with extra functionality, based on the thread-based core. It is basically MPlayer with muscles.

Features at a glance

Key features include better support for multi-core CPUs and improved performance of the software video decoding functionality. The project’s main goal is to introduce monotonous CPU loading for smoothness video playback.

As expected, the program inherits all the features and command-line options of the original MPlayer software, which can be viewed only from a console environment, such as a terminal emulator.
