DVDStyler is an open source and cross-platform DVD authoring application that allows you to create professional-looking DVDs. It is actually a GUI (Graphical User Interface) front-end for the dvdauthor command-line software. The program provides a user-friendly and intuitive interface, which lets users to effortlessly create DVD-Video discs that feature a concert, a wedding or another important event in their life.

Supports many popular video formats

The DVD-Video discs created with DVDStyler can include interactive menus, multiple audio and subtitle tracks, photo slideshows, and customizable navigation. Designing your own DVD menu is an easy and fun task with this application, which also provides a nice collection of menu templates for novices users. The application supports some of the most popular video formats, including AVI, MPEG, MPEG-2, XviD, DivX, MP4, MOV, WMV, and OGG, as well as a wide range of audio formats, including MP3, AC-3 and MP2.

Create professional-looking DVD-Video discs

An interesting feature is the ability to use VOB and MPEG files without reencoding in order to create a professional-looking DVD-Video disc. In addition, DVDStyler allows you to include different video and audio file formats in one DVD. Among other nice and unique features, the application provides support for multi-core processors, PAL and NTSC standards, 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratio, labels, fixed or automatic video bitrate, configurable audio bitrate, title post commands, and flexible menu creation based on SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics).

Create astonishing DVD-Video menus

Additionally, DVDStyler allows users to import image files from their computer and use them as backgrounds for the DVD menus, place buttons, add text boxes and other graphic objects anywhere in the menu. The menu buttons can be highly customized by changing the color and font, as well as other parameters. You can also easily scale any button or graphic object.

Bottom line

During our tests, we have found DVDStyler to be a comprehensive DVD authoring utility, an unique application on the Linux platform. Unfortunately, these days only a few people use the DVD format.
