Warzone 2100 is an 100% free, cross-platform and open source 3D real-time strategy (RTS) game where the player commands its units in a battle to reconstruct the entire planet after Earth has been hit by nuclear missiles. Being developed by Pumpkin Studios, the game has been published by Eidos Interactive, and its gameplay can be easily compared with the one from the Earth 2150 game.

Features over 400 technologies and 2000 units

Key features include over 400 technologies, over 2,000 units, three big campaign maps, 24 fast play mission maps, intelligent display, interactive message system, fast play interface, quick screen navigation, fast find system for structures and units, single-player and multiplalyer skirmish modes, an extensive tech tree.

Getting started with Warzone 2100

This is a mature game, which means that it is distributed as a quite big file, so installing it from the source package is out of the question for many users who don’t have the time to install all of its runtime dependencies and wait at least 10-20 minutes for the compilation process ti finish.

Therefore, we strongly recommend to install Warzone 2100 using the Software Center app of your GNU/Linux distribution. Most major Linux kernel-based operating system have the Warzone 2100 game in their official software repositories.

Start the game from the Games section of your desktop environment’s Start Menu. You will be presented with a main menu, from where you can start a new single-player campaign, initiate a multi-player game, view a very instructive tutorial about how to play the game, as well as to set various options.

Runs on Linux, Windows and Mac

Another interesting feature is that the Warzone 2100 game runs on all mainstream operating systems, including GNU/Linux, Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X. It is also compatible with the FreeBSD operating system, and supports 32 and 64-bit computer platforms.
