Writefully is marketed as a way to "turn your GitHub repository into a CMS", but in fact this small script is more of an actual static site generator, which instead of using files stored locally on your computer (or server), takes data and assembles the site from a GitHub repo.
Pretty innovative indeed, since most of coders these days use GitHub for various tasks and features.
Just create the page templates, add the content as Markdown files, and push the changes to a GitHub repo.
Writefully will parse the repo's most recent commits, extract the content and display it in your site's pages.
Since Writefully is actually a RoR app you can also extend its features with any type of Rails extension you want, customizing your site's behavior to whatever you need it to do.
You can also run multiple sites from the same Writefully installation, and also run multi-lingual sites as well.
The entire Writefully codebase is very well documented, and you can easily configure, install and customize it yourself. Theming support is also included.
