Gabby is a Node.js static site generator, a tool that reads template and content files stored in a designated folder and compiles them to an HTML website.
This website can then be served from where it stands via the Node.js server tools, via Gabby's built-in HTTP server, copy-pasted into another server's root folder, or uploaded via FTP to an online server.
Since the content is delivered in HTML format, any server technology can be used to serve Gabby's resulted website.
As for what it can do, Gabby comes equipped with lots of cool features, like the ability to instantly preview changes made to template or content files, automatic static assets minification, integration with the Node.js command-line, support for SEO-friendly URLs, and automatic content caching if its built-in server is used.
For the website templates, developers can use Jade, Plates, or HAML while for the content, JSON or Markdown can be used.
Gabby also comes with support for using CoffeeScript for writing new features, and Stylus, SASS, and LESS for its CSS files.
