Apache Rave implements a platform for creating social aggregation systems for serving OpenSocial gadgets and W3C widgets.
Developers can use Rave to build various community-based services, aggregating information sources into channels and broadcasting them to an audiences in real-time.
Apache Rave can be used to host multi-channel social engines, or even multi-site services for both desktop and mobile environments.
As you'd expect from a social engine, there support for the OAuth protocol, user management features, customizable frontends, inter-widget communication, and a high-end security model.
The Rave platform can additionally be extended via plugins and also comes with lots of ready-made gadgets.
