Sphinx

The Sphinx search server has been used by many renowned Internet companies like Groupon, SlashDot, Craigslist, Joomla.org, MySQL.com, Box.com, DailyMotion, phpBB, Scribd, Metacafe, SimpleMachines.org and many other more.

Sphinx does not care where you store the data it has to search. It will index it and reply to search queries regardless.

Sphinx has been known to work with both database types, the relational SQL types and the NoSQL key-value storage servers.
