The jQuery Star Rating Plugin works and is based on a set of radio buttons, masked by star pictures.
The plugin creates the interface based on standard form elements, which means the basic functionality will still be available even if JavaScript is disabled or there's a problem loading he code.
The widget can be easily styled via CSS skins and it includes many configurable parameters.
Developers can deploy star rating system that use full or half-stars, come with pre-filled votes, support disabled states, external controls, and can even allow users to cancel their vote.
All ratings submitted via the plugin can be saved to a database, or stored in a cookie.
