OpenPyxl was ported from the PHPExcel project and is a pure Python reader and writer of Excel OpenXML files.
The library will allow server-side generation of standards-compliant Excel files without having to purchase or install a Microsoft Office package.
It's role is to provide a programmatic way of exporting or importing data from Microsoft's Excel format.
By offering this possibility, developers can script dynamic content in Excel files, based on user input or other processing applications.
