GROUP-E

GROUP-E is an open source, platform-independent, freely distributed and web-based application implemented in PHP and crafted as a collaboration system that comprises of project management, business server, and groupware solutions.

Features at a glance

The application is based on a LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP) architecture and features support for WebDAV, SyncML, and ActiveSync, as well as resource management and Asterisk integration.

In addition, the software provides transparent Samba (file server) integration, LDAP contact databases, integration of Cyrus IMAP server with personal and administration SIEVE filters, as well as LDAP-based user management with SSO (Single Sign-On) authentication.

On system integration part of the project, we can notice that it provides Samba integration, allowing users to connect to a file server and access files over the network, both locally and remotely over the Web. Additionally, you can implement a single file management platform for your company,

Offers SyncML 1.0 synchronization and SSO LDAP connections

SyncML 1.0 synchronization is another interesting feature that allows for comparison with Microsoft Outlook, mobile terms of tasks, contacts and appointments, as well as support for syncML-enabled smartphones and PDAs.

Support for LDAP connections (Single Sign-On) is also available, offering uniform access management for groupware and e-mail, increasing your infrastructure’s security and reducing administrative work.

Controllable by internal experts with average technical skills

On the process integration part of the project, we can mention flexible rights management, easy setup and management of groupware, e-mail and network accounts, even by a system administrator with average technical skills. Management of system components like file server through the web interface is also a breeze.

Among other interesting features, we can mention efficient and simple project management, tine analysis and tracking, flexible CRM (Customer Relationship Management) functionality, effective provision of knowledge and information, efficient communication between teams, as well as support for all modern web browsers, including Mozilla Firefox, Opera, Safari, Internet Explorer, Chromium, Konqueror, and Google Chrome.

What is new in this release:

• This version fixes many bugs related to activesync for Android and iOS5, fixes minor bugs in Email, Calendar, and Addresses, adds the new system language French, includes several improvements for Asterisk 1.4, 1.6, and 1.8, provides escalation management for Infomanager documents, and adds Templatesystem, colors, and resources to the calendar module.
