LopeEdit

When it comes to multilingual text editors, you've got plenty of choice. LopeEdit is another contender in the ring, but with so much competition, how's it going to fare?

In the first place, LopeEdit is free, which already earns it brownie points. It's easy to use and, although not a stunner, is a perfectly functional and not-too-basic tool. The interface uses drag-and-drop tabs to display multiple documents at once, either horizontally or vertically. You can even display documents side-by-side, which is a nice touch. LopeEdit allows for a certain amount of appearance customization, and a decent amount of settings modification. It has all the features you'd expect, and a few that you might not. LopeEdit features syntax, bracket and brace highlighting, supports various visual themes and has bookmark support. Against LopeEdit, it's just not a very exciting program. Ok, nobody would argue that text editors are wildly interesting, but even so, you can't help but feel that while LopeEdit does its job and well, there's a dozen other apps out there that do exactly the same.

Changes

• Fixed bug: bracket highlighting did not work correctly when the the character was not visible in the editor
• Fixed bug: on both the Input/Output panel and the Console panel now it is possible to select text with the mouse (scrolling if it is necessary) and with the keyboard
• New option which specifies if when opening a file it must detect automatically the UTF-8 files without BOM header
• If a file with UTF-8 encoding without BOM header is open, when saving the file the BOM header is not included
• The File Browser panel now loads quickly when the folder contains zip files very large
