Kronolith is an open source, platform-independent and freely distributed web-based application, a plugin for the popular and powerful Horde enterprise-ready collaboration suite, offering a full featured, easy-to-use, fast and stable calendaring system for Horde Groupware users.

A standalone calendar application

It provides a standalone calendar application that features scheduling, collaboration, repeating events, tags, all-day events, shared calendars, CalDAV support, remote calendars, iTip support, iCalendar support, and the ability to manage multiple users via Horde authentication.

Supports multiple databases

Kronolith’s calendaring API supports multiple databases, including the widely used SQLite, PostgreSQL, as well as the powerful MySQL. At the moment, the Kronolith calendar application can be installed using the PEAR installer (installation details can be find in the next section).

Getting started with Kronolith

Before using Kronolith on your infrastructure, you should check to see if all of its runtime dependencies are installed. For example, the application requires a working Horde installation, Kolab support in Horde or SQL support in PHP, a modern operating system (Linux, Windows, BSD, Solaris, Mac OS X), as well as the Date and Date_Holidays 0.21.0 PEAR packages.

To install Kronolith, you must use the PEAR installer, which must be installed on your system along with the Horde framework. For detailed installation instructions check out the http://www.horde.org/apps/horde/docs/INSTALL site. When you have a fully working PEAR installer, open a terminal emulator and run the ‘pear install -a -B horde/kronolith’ command to install Kronolith.

Alternatively, you can run the ‘pear install horde/kronolith’ command to install Kronolith only with the required dependencies, or run the ‘pear install -a horde/kronolith’ command to install Kronolith with all binary dependencies. After installation, proceed to the first time configuration wizard, which is detailed on at http://www.horde.org/apps/kronolith/docs/INSTALL#configuring-kronolith.
