Excel Writer is an open source and free command-line utility that can be used for easily writing Excel files with basic formatting, implemented in Ada.
Excel Writer features automatic production of reports, it does not interact with the Microsoft Excel software, and uses totally portable code, making it run on multiple operating systems, such as Linux and Windows.
Excel Writer's output XLS files can be viewed in any supported office suite application, such as LibreOffice, Apache OpenOffice.org, or Microsoft Excel.
The application is very fast on a old hardware and netbooks, such as Intel Atom, 1.66 GHz. It produces 50 sheets per second, with 10,000 data cells each.

- cells "locked" (Excel's default, this allows formula protection)
- Next, Next_Row admit zero as parameter

- Horizontal and vertical jumps within the virtual spreadsheet have been added.
