Virtuoso is an innovative enterprise grade server that cost-effectively delivers an unrivaled platform for Data Access, Integration and Management. Its functionality realms include:

  • Hybrid Data Server for Relational, RDF-Graph, and Document (Full Text) data management
  • Virtual Database Engine that enables powerful data virtualization atop heterogeneous data sources (SQL, RDF, XML, and Web Services)
  • Web Application Services for deploying message oriented (REST) or RPC (SOAP) styles of distributed applications
  • Linked Data Server for deploying structured hypermedia resources comprised of Linked Data Object meshes across public or private HTTP based networks.
  • Social Media enhanced Distributed Collaboration Services for effectively integrating Blogs, Wikis, Bookmarks, Feeds, Discussion Forums etc.
  • This installer archive includes Virtuoso's Client, Server, and iODBC SDK & Runtime components. The Client Components enable connectivity to Virtuoso Server instances using data access protocols such as: ODBC, JDBC, ADO.NET, and OLE-DB. The Server Components enable installation and use of Virtuoso RDBMS (SQL Tables and RDF Property/Predicate Graph) instances that are accessible to HTTP, WebDAV, LDP, IMAP4, POP3, SPARQL, ODBC, JDBC, ADO.NET, OLE-DB, and XMLA clients. The iODBC SDK provides libraries and header files for developing ODBC compliant applications using the 'C' programming language. The Runtime components install the ODBC Driver Manager and Administrator components required by ODBC compliant applications, in regards to ODBC Data Source Name (DSN) Connectivity and Configuration.

What is new in this release:

    • Enhanced 3rd Party Storage Services Integration - 3rd Party Storage Services (e.g., Dropbox, Amazon S3, Microsoft OneDrive, Google Drive, Box, Rackspace, etc.) are mountable and un-mountable (asynchronously) to Virtuoso's HTTP/WebDAV based File Server layer. This feature enables end-user level exploitation of open standards for Web-scale Verifiable Identity (e.g., PKIX) that no longer depend on domain ownership.
    • Loosely-coupled CSV document support - Attachment of external, filesystem-hosted CSV Documents to Virtuoso frees users from confinement to wholesale import and export. Once attached, these CSV documents are treated like native SQL Tables, thereby enabling powerful transformations into RDF-based Linked Open Data. Net effect, enhanced data virtualization functionality that enables powerful data integration and transformation -- without losing the lightweight data definition and manipulation benefits of filesystem-hosted CSV documents.
    • Loosely-Coupled Data Transformation Services - Enables use of the HTTP POST method to request asynchronous transformation services to convert a myriad of structured data sources into RDF-based Linked Open Data, on the fly.
    • Built-in Nanotation Processor - Automatic extraction and transformation of digital sentences (using RDF-TURTLE notation) embedded in Email Messages, Online Discussion Posts, Tweets, Social Media Posts (Facebook, LinkedIn, Google+), HTML Body, and Plain Text documents, into RDF-based Linked Open Data, which is then stored in the host Virtuoso instance. This feature provides users with the freedom, power, and flexibility to create structured data wherever and whenever -- as long as the target destination is a content input control that supports the "plain/text" content-type.
    • Loosely-coupled SSL/TLS - For enhanced security, SSL/TLS version and associated cipher selection is now configurable. Net effect, you can now explicitly disable the use of specific SSL/TLS versions (e.g., SSL/TLS 3.0, which is susceptible to the POODLE exploit).

What is new in version 7.0:

    Version 7.0 includes:

  • Column-wise Data Storage - Data is stored column-wise inline with DBMS technology advances aimed at large scale analytics and decision support
  • Vectored Execution - Parallel execution of multiple query commands with fined-grained scoping to CPU cores i.e., for a given core that are massive numbers of parallel command execution per threads handled by said core
  • Data Compression - Enables much more compact working sets in hot cache and an overall more compact database
  • Elastic Cluster - No need for wholesale data reloads following evolution of cluster configuration e.g., moving from a 4-node cluster to an 8-node cluster
  • Faster generation of RDF based Linked Data views over ODBC/JDBC accessible RDBMS data sources
  • New extractor cartridges: HTML (and variants), USA.GOV, BioPortal, DP.LA, Certificates, Bitbucket, We The People, Shodan, Xing, License, Code Google, Federal Register, CVE Security, Hotels.com, yfrog, Mail Signature, JRD, CKAN, Factual, W3C Issue Tracker Cartridge, GoPollGo, Image-Net, Yahoo Query Language (YQL), OPML, Twitpic, EML, OMIM
  • New meta cartridges: Shodan, Influence Explorer, Hotels, Scoop.it, CityGrid Media, Factual, GlassPockets, Twitter Handles, Spaziodati, Hashtags, MapIt, Disqus
  • Requirements:

  • Mac OS X 10.5 or higher
  • iODBC Frameworks (included)
  • JDK for J2EE hosting
  • Python, PHP, Perl, for application logic hosting (included)
  • Mono for ADO.NET application logic hosting
  • Limitations:

    14 Day Evaluation License
