JomSocial is a powerful and easy to use community builder, a complex tool that completely changes the way you'll look at Joomla.

If you have to compare it to anything, JomSocial is to Joomla what BuddyPress is to WordPress, a basic add-on which gives webmasters more control over user accounts, letting them create profile pages on the frontend and even allow them to interact with each other in various ways.

Users can befriend other users, they can follow each other's updates, they can upload and share videos and images, and they can even setup events and participate in meetings or other activities together.

Basically anything you can do on most social networks you can do with JomSocial, and the best thing about it is that you can host and control it yourself (if you're the admin).

In the Joomla backend, JomSocial will add its own dashboard, where all the community-related activities can be followed, regulated and updated.

Lots of settings can be tweaked via the JomSocial backend and administrators can even extend it via add-ons and installable apps.

Installation:

Go to the Joomla admin section.
Select "Extensions" -> "Install/Uninstall/Extensions Manager".
Upload the package's ZIP archive file and press "Upload & Install".
Activate the uploaded plugin.
