Retina.js scans the visitor's device for Retina support and if detected, it performs a series of checks.
By default it will look for high resolution alternatives to default images, swapping them for the original image and serving a Retina-enabled version of the website if available.
To use, just include the script on the page, the library working out of the box if all your images have alternative, high-resolution versions uploaded on the server with the "@2x" suffix.
Retina.js lets developers override this default when needed.
This can be done via a custom data-at2x attribute added to each image, specifying the location of the proper 2x high-res image file.
What is new in this release:
- Update to Grunt for build.
- Integrate jshint into development workflow.
- Add data-no-retina attribute to allow for exclusions.
Requirements:
- JavaScript enabled on client side
