Productivity-oriented, Amapi 7 Pro offers a unique environment for the conception and creation of high-end 3D models. For use by Product Designers, Architects and advanced 3D Modelers, Amapi 7 Pro embodies the latest advances in NURBS and Polygonal 3D modeling, while retaining the incomparable creativity of the original Amapi. This version thus contains a plethora of major new functional characteristics, with the totality of the NURBS modeling functions being completely integrated into the well-known philosophy and creative interface of the Amapi 7 Product line.
What is new in this release:
- Light map rendering added: a light map display is now available from the control panel. It gives a very realistic preview of objects surfaces.
- Layer management has been improved: when a layer is changed, the file is marked as modified and so is saved when using Ctrl-S. Updating layer content has been improved
- Previews for layers, catalogue and so on are faster on Mac.
- Incremental saving: from the File menu, selecting Incremental saving saves the current document in a new file keeping the previous versions unchanged.
- Tooltips added to the shortcut Editor
- SpacePilot, SpaceMouse and SpaceBall (3DConnexion) devices now supported on Windows (not yet supported on Mac.)
- Brep closure: AmapiPro 7.5 was using a coons to close a planar hole. It will now use a plane (should improve some operations performed after the closure)
- Periodic Curves: When closing the curve in NURBS Curve tool, a periodic curve is now created. Periodic curves have a cleaner NURBS representation.
- Circle tool: one option added when creating a NURBS circle: default Circles (without weights, with breaks on deformation) and deformable circles (periodic NURBS curves, without weights), based on an approximation: the more control points you have, the more accurate curve you have.
- Rebuild NURBS surface: a new tool to rebuild a NURBS curve or surface (and not BREP) has been added to the NURBS smoothing tool
- Thickness tool no longer computes a thickness with a default value to avoid the wait when computing the first time. The default value is set to 0. You must enter a value.
- Chamfer tool now has a new computation mode to delay the chamfer algorithms until all edges have been selected. This can help to set a good radius and to select all the edges. Also the radius is set to 0 when a problem can happen.
- The fourth option of the Boolean tool to extract selected faces from a NURBS surface now extracts the NURBS face. This is useful for splitting a NURBS assembly.
- Extract NURBS curve tool on complex tangent segments: the extract NURBS curve tool can now extract parts of curves delimited by tangents or intersections defined by advanced snaps. Thus, it is possible to precisely extract NURBS curves from a set of tangent construction curves forming complex paths.
- Repeat, duplicate, copy on support tools improved: it is now possible to do complex duplications in a snap. Speed has been improved, the tools use less memory and their ergonomics have been enhanced.
- Picking and highlighting have been improved. These were not accurate for very small entities on large objects.
- Constraint lines works now in 3D (not only in ruler plane)
- Control-click in Curve tools and in Sweep Tool won't create a new point anymore (only camera motion).
- Measure tool now computes the volume of volumes without caps (Example: Gordon surfaces with planar caps)
- Some tools ergonomics have been changed to remove unnecessary steps.
- STL export topology checker: when exporting to STL for rapid prototyping, it is crucial to check that the topology exported is a closed volume. This check has been added to the STL export. If the volume is not valid, the Closure tool can be used to show and close the holes.
- The Closure tool now displays a message when the selected object is already a closed volume.
- STL binary export: It is now possible to export binary STL files. These files are much smaller than ASCII files.
- Multi screen support: it is now possible to move the Amapi Pro window on any screen. No more problems with the menus, background and pop-ups. Notice that full screen is limited to the main screen.
- When changing the screen resolution, some palettes could be lost. There is now a new menu entry that resets the palette position.
- On large screens (resolution higher than 1600*1200) the background was not cleared properly.
- Save file improved to avoid to overwriting existing files in some cases
- When launching the shortcut editor from the menu (not the shortcut) setting shortcuts did not always work.
- Recent files did not work well when more than 10 files were recorded
- On Macintosh, the bmp file format is no more the default format for images.
- Default name for the created image is the document name and no more imagea.
- Coons in polygon mode did not work.
- Basic Constraints did not work.
- Import of CAD files (IGES, VDAFS, STEP, ACIS) containing transformation matrices did not work in all cases. Objects were not located properly.
- Crack free tessellation fixed when the quad flag was set.
- Display bug fixed for symmetric objects
- Editing a Gordon surface was not working when curves were in another layer.
- Picking Gordon: circle picking in Gordon tool bug fixed
- Undo after starting the program no more changes the color settings
- Several minor bugs fixed
Requirements:
- Mac OS X 10.2 or higher
- OpenGL 3D graphics accelerator card
