WEAKERTH4N Blue Ghost (formerly WeakNet Linux) is an open source penetration testing distribution of Linux based off of Debian GNU/Linux, the world’s most popular free operating system, and built around the Fluxbox window manager. It’s designed primarily for security professionals.

It’s distributed as a dual-arch Live DVD

The distribution formerly known as WeakNet Linux is now distributed as a dual-arch Live DVD ISO image that contains software packages optimized for both 32-bit (x86) and 64-bit (x86_64) instruction set architectures.

The OS can be used without installing it

From the Live DVD boot menu, the user can start the live system with a default kernel or in failsafe mode, perform a system memory diagnostic test, as well as to boot an existing operating system from the first disk drive detected by the BIOS.

Highly customized desktop environment built around Fluxbox

WEAKERTH4N’s desktop environment is built around the lightweight and ultra fast Fluxbox window manager, which has been highly customized with hackerish artwork and a dock (application launcher). The Fluxbox panel is located on the upper part of the screen and users can access the main menu by right clicking anywhere on the desktop.

Comes pre-loaded with a dozen of security-related tools

The best feature of the distribution is the great selection of security-related tools. It includes applications for VoIP hacking, social engineering, Android hacking, SQL hacking, Cisco exploiting, web hacking, information gathering, Firefox hacking, fuzzing, password cracking, instant servers, exploiting, bluetooth hacking, as well as Wi-Fi hacking.

Includes standard open-source applications too

The distro also includes standard open-source applications, such as the VLC Media Player, Leafpad text editor, Calibre e-book library management software, Mozilla Firefox web browser, FileZilla file transfer client, Transmission torrent downloader, XMMS audio player, as well as Synaptic Package Manager for installing additional apps or updating existing ones.

What is new in version 2.0:

  • WeakNet Labs Brings you, WNLA version 2.0 FINAL! Yes, I have built this one with a more Debian feel to it. Also, I ditched the Gnome GUI and built the Enlightenment E17 GUI instead! It's beautiful, with animated icons, right and left click menus on the desktop, a PERFECT paging system, and a beautiful zooming icon dock for applications.
  • I built the 1337tool up to have more features as well. I included more tools that WNL and I have coded, and things just have a much nicer feel to them.
  • Another cool new feature is Web Hacking Portal 4.1! Yes, I coded better PHP, which now has seamless re-directs as the credentials are recorded. If the victim has cookies already set with a session, that session too, is re-initiated, meaning, no evidence of phishing save for the browsing history.
  • Login = assistant (always the same)
  • Sudo passwd = weaknet
  • Su password = weaknet2
  • Services Passwd's = weaknet (e.g. MySQL)
