Metro JS helps developers create GUIs that look like the Metro (now known as Modern UI) interface for Windows 8.

Metro JS is great for developers building OS-like Web interfaces, especially those wanting to replicate Windows' latest look.

At its core Metro JS uses the concept of tile to describe a content block, tiles which can easily be customize in any way or form.

Developers can control tile placement, colors, dimensions, animation and so on.

The plugin works great with both static and dynamic data and can easily be integrated with any backend, regardless of the server-side language.

Features:

  • Cross-browser tested
  • Support for hardware acceleration
  • Modenizr support
  • Theme generator included
  • Tiles can hold any type of HTML content
  • Tile carousel mode
  • Tile animations

What is new in this release:

  • translate() is now used for carousel and slide mode when available.
  • useTranslate (aka data-use-translate) added to disable translate() and transition on top/left.

What is new in version 0.95:

  • Swapping to semantic versioning for compatibility with the new jQuery plugins site.

What is new in version 0.9d1:

  • Fixed typo causing global scope on a carousel property
  • haTransFunc and noHaTransFunc added to expose easing properties of animations
  • Support for jQuery 1.3.2 added

What is new in version 0.8.9.3i:

  • Swapped to jQuery rather than $ for library to avoid issues with jQuery.noConflict
  • All code is encapsulated now instead of just the liveTile library

What is new in version 0.8.9.3a:

  • Rewrote all random functions to guarantee no duplicate images.
  • 'destroy' method has been implemented.

Requirements:

  • JavaScript enabled on client side
  • jQuery 1.3.2 or higher
