The jQuery Face Detection Plugin works by scanning an image or a video's frames and using a special pattern recognition system detects any human faces inside it.
Once the faces detected, it provides their coordinates to the developer, which in turn can use them to draw highlights around the face and point them out to any interested user.
To improve performance, the plugin can dynamically convert photos to greyscale before searching for faces.
Detecting multiple faces inside the same photo is supported. The plugin cannot detect look-alike faces (the same face) inside multiple images.
The jQuery Face Detection Plugin is based on Liu Liu's ccv algorithm.
A demo is included with the download package.
Works with client-side (browsers) and server-side (Node.js) environments. Besides jQuery, the plugin also works with Zepto.js.
