Transmission Remote GUI is an open source, completely free and multiplatform graphical application that has been developed to provide a remote GUI (Graphical User Interface) front-end for the remote control daemon of the well known Transmission BitTorrent client.

Allows users to remotely control Transmission

As you’ve might already guessed, this piece of software allows you to easily and remotely control the Transmission daemon, which must run in the background, as a daemon, on your GNU/Linux operating system, via its RPC (Remote Procedure Call) protocol.

Offers a uTorrent-like interface

Another interesting feature of the Transmission Remote GUI application is that it offers a uTorrent-like interface, which provides even more functionality than the official web interface of the Transmission project. The user interface supports multiple languages.

Features at a glance

Key features include support for filtering torrents by tracker, status or folder, support for viewing detailed information about the tracker, system tray support, peer country and hostname resolver, per torrent options, built-in notification balloon that informs you when a torrent is complete.

Additionally, the program features support for both magnet and torrent files, supports detailed peer information, supports peer country flag, support for selecting files to download, support for setting the torrent and file priority, support for selecting the target download folder, as well as complete torrent information.

Runs on GNU/Linux, Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X

Transmission Remote GUI is a cross-platform software that has been successfully tested with many GNU/Linux distributions, including Ubuntu, Arch Linux, openSUSE, Fedora, and Linux Mint, as well as with Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X operating systems. It is currently supported on 32 and 64-bit computer platforms.
