flipgrid.js works on a simple concept. When the page is loaded, all thumbnails are shown using a grid layout.
If the user clicks on a small thumbnail image, the rows around it start flipping their thumbnails and make space so the thumbnail's high resolution image version can be displayed in full.
After the user has finished viewing the larger photo, he can then click it and flip everything to its original state.
flipgrid.js works with static photos loaded within the page, or with images acquired from various known image hosting services like:
- Picasa
- Flickr
- Tumblr
- Instagram
When images from these services are used, a series of filters are also available to the user for showing photos only from those accounts.
A demo is included with the flipgrid.js download package.
Requirements:
- JavaScript enabled on client side
- Picasa API credentials
- Instagram API credentials
- Flickr API credentials
- Tumblr API credentials
