jQuery Reel works on top of a normal image tag, performing quick image source replacements based on the user's mouse wheel cursor or with the help of a vertical and/or horizontal drag handler.
As the user moves one of these handlers or drags an image using his mouse, the image source is rotated accordingly, showing a perspective that matches the user's interaction.
The Reel plugin can be used for previewing products from different angles, implementing a JS-based movie player that cycles through a series of images in a sequence, and for viewing large panoramic images.
Support is included for deploying an auto-playing 3D image viewer, automatically cycling through all the image frames.
On top of this, developers can also overlay other objects on top of the 360 player, adding captions to their panoramas and image viewers.
Lots of demos and documentation is included with the Reel download package.
Since this is a JS-only solution that requires no Flash or other in-browser technology, the jQuery Reel plugin has been very successful and has was deployed on lots of top tier websites from companies like Nokia, BMW, New York Times, Fiat, Samsung, Hyundai, Adidas, HP, BlackBerry, Kodak, Nikon, Honda, Audi, Nissan, Suzuki, Mitsubishi, Bridgestone, Volkswagen, and many other more.
What is new in this release:
