openTCS is an open source, multiplatform and freely distributed graphical software designed to act as a Transportation Control System for controlling AGVs (Automated Guided Vehicles), as well as to steer almost any track-guided vehicle.

Features at a glance

The software is independent of vehicle vendor or manufacturer. It comprises of an abstract kernel, which implements replaceable strategies and algorithms like scheduling of resources, computation of routes and dispatching of orders to vehicles.

It also contains pluggable vehicle drivers, which can be used to implement communication protocols, as well as a graphical user interface (GUI front-end) that allows you to create and visualize logical models of the areas where the vehicles are moving in.

Easy to use interface

The application’s graphical user interface is quite easy-to-use and straightforward, yet complex and featureful, designed to allow the user to easily start controlling automated guided vehicles or track-guided vehicles.

Under the hood and availability

The program is written entirely in the Java programming language and uses the Java Swing technology for the graphical user interface. For your convenience, it is distributed as both binary and source archives, which can be deployed on all mainstream operating systems

Supported operating systems and architectures

This is a platform-independent application that supports all GNU/Linux systems, as well as the Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X operating systems. It has been successfully tested with both 32-bit and 64-bit hardware platforms.

What is new in this release:

  • Fixed crash of the plant overview client that was sometimes triggered when the user switched lanuages in the GUI.
  • Fixed potential crash of the plant overview client that could be triggered by the user trying to use cut-and-paste shortcuts when the kernel was not in modelling mode.
  • Fixed potential crash of the kernel control center that could be triggered by the user trying to activate a nonexistent vehicle driver.
  • Fixed unusable size/layout of the driving course model selection dialog shown on kernel startup for some window managers/desktop environments on Unix systems.

What is new in version 3.1.1:

  • Fixed crash of the plant overview client that was sometimes triggered when the user switched lanuages in the GUI.
  • Fixed potential crash of the plant overview client that could be triggered by the user trying to use cut-and-paste shortcuts when the kernel was not in modelling mode.
  • Fixed potential crash of the kernel control center that could be triggered by the user trying to activate a nonexistent vehicle driver.
  • Fixed unusable size/layout of the driving course model selection dialog shown on kernel startup for some window managers/desktop environments on Unix systems.
