GNOME Font Viewer is an open source application that allows users to view and browse through all of the installed fonts of their Linux-based operating system. It is compatible with the GNOME desktop environment.
The application has been designed to display an overview of all the installed fonts, supporting all font types (including TTF and OTF). By default, it optimizes screen space usage when its maximized.
Features at a glance
It is one of the most simple applications to use on a computer. It does not provides users with toolbar buttons or any other functionality, such as a built-in search. All it does is to display all the installed fonts under a single window.
It automatically loads all the fonts from the get go, which will take some time if you’ve installed many fonts. Fonts are listed in alphabetical order, only with capital and lowercase letters, as well as its complete name and style.
Clicking a font will open it in the same window, allowing users to view the usual example of how the font looks like in different sizes, as well as all the supported characters that can be written with them.
In addition, the application’s user interface includes a couple of buttons in this mode, allowing users to easily go back to the main screen, as well as to view detailed information about the respective font, such as name, style, type, version, copyright and description.
