Dropline GNOME

Dropline GNOME is an open source software project that has been designed from the ground up as a custom version of the GNOME desktop environment, tweaked for Slackware Linux operating systems.

Installation instructions

After downloading the installer, execute the “installpkg dropline-installer-3.6_r4104-i686-1dl.txz” command as root to install it on your existing Slackware installation, then run the “dropline-installer” command to install Dropline GNOME.

During the installation process, you will be required to only select an installation style, as the installer will handle the rest. To update your Dropline GNOME installation, use the “dropline-installer” command, but choose the “Upgrade” option.

Requirements and availability

To install the Dropline GNOME desktop environment on your existing Slackware installation, you will need to run at least Slackware Linux 14.0 (both 32-bit (i686) and 64-bit (x86-64) architectures are supported).

In hardware terms, you will need a machine with a 1GHz processor or higher, at least 512MB of RAM (system memory) and at least 2GB free hard disk drive space.
