git submodule add git://github.com/pnorman/osmdifffetcher.git osmdifffetcher
then from your python file
include osmdifffetcher
myfetcher = osmdifffetcher.DiffFetcher()
myfetcher.init_latest()
then myfetcher.next() to get the latest diff or return none if there isn't one ready yet.
