Natural Selection 2 is a commercial, multiplayer and multiplatform video game, the sequel to the highly acclaimed, addictive, and exciting Natural Selection game which was released back in 2002 only for Microsoft Windows operating systems.
The story and gameplay
The second iteration of the Natural Selection game is set in a SF (Science-Fiction) universe in which human and alien eams fight each other for control of territory and resources. The gameplay takes place in very detailed and large indoor facilities.
Ad hybrid RTS and FPS multiplayer game
The Natural Selection 2 game is a modification of the Half-Life video game and aims to provide its players with a hybrid RTS (Real-Time Strategy) and FPS (First-Person Shooter) multiplayer game for all ages and genre.
Marines vs Aliens
Two opposing teams battle to destroy each other’s base, Frontiersmen (Marines) and Kharaa (Aliens). While Marines rely on guns and other human weapons, Aliens have the advantage of teleport, walking on walls and flying techniques along with melee attacks.
A built-in currency system is available
The game also comes with a built-in currency system that allows players to buy better weapons and equipment, in order to evolve into more advanced lifeforms, with the ultimate goal of winning the game by destroying the opponent team.
Features dynamic environments and unique sides
The game features dynamic environments, powerful modding capabilities, intricate maps, tightly designed shooting mechanics, and unique sides. You will play as a bootstrapped Marine or as a beastly alien.
Runs on GNU/Linux, Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows
Being a cross-platform game, Natural Selection 2 can be played on any GNU/Linux distributon, as well as on the Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X operating systems. A Steam key is provided with the purchase and the game runs on 32 and 64-bit computers.
What is new in this release:
- Remove erroneous file exists check in particle handling (fixes Shotgun & other bad hitching)
- Ensure servers actually try to update all mods on changemap
- Remove curl progress reporting spamming server consoles
- Fixed damage types; Onos, bile bomb, Flamethrower, axe & Welder. (Onos were upset. Not good.)
- Fixed lua error on linux for users with certain locale settings
