F*EX (also known as Frams' Fast File EXchange) is a free, platform-independent and open source web-based service implemented Perl, HTML and JavaScript, and designed from the offset to be used for sending very big files from one computer to another.

Features at a glance

The application is capable of transferring files of virtually any size. It is UNIX based, supports auto-notification of recipient, auto-deletion after expiration date and auto-deletion after download, supports streams, includes REGET and RESEND functions for resuming the file transfer operation after a failure, and offers support for creating sub-users.

Another interesting feature is the ability to send files to more than one user simultaneously, an operation that allocates storage space only once per transfer. It’s a maintenance-free software that does not require system administrator rights, except when creating F*EX accounts.

Users will full permissions will be able to create sub-users that can send file only to the super-user that created the account, to create one-time upload URLs for guest users, as well as to create groups of users.

On the other hand, administrators will be able to allow internal or external user self-registration, to enable support for anonymous uploading of files to users on a LAN (Local Area Network), and to enable support for uploading files to public recipients, without authentication.

Supports all mainstream operating systems and web browsers

In order to use F*EX, the user will need only a web browser and an e-mail program. The software has been successfully tested with any modern web browser/email client program, on Linux, BSD, Solaris, Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X operating systems.

Being a HTTP service, no firewall-tunnels or any other software are required to use this program, which has been successfully installed on computers supporting either of the 64-bit (x86_64) and 32-bit (x86) architectures.
