Selectivity.js was inspired by the Select2 jQuery plugin, a tool also for beautifying dropdown selects.
Originally named Select3 and then renamed to Selectivity, this plugin works as an enhanced version of Select2, with lots of new features included.
All of Select2's native features are supported, starting with auto-completiong, tag input, templated layouts, infinite scrolling, and finishing with remote data sets, and list searching.
On top of these, Selectivity.js adds its own feature set, like support for submenus, retrieval of data via AJAX, async support, Zepto.js support, and on-screen visibility detection.
All of them are demonstrated with the package's example files, allowing developers to study some samples and use them as a starting point for their own implementations.
