The new HTML 5 standard aims at upgrading the process of navigating and coding on the/for the Web.
It does this by a large collection of API and tools it included in its core, one of them being the powerful File API, a way to interact with client-side files much easier.
jQuery Upload File is a small wrapper for the File API, allowing users to drag and drop files over an upload field and automatically add them to the upload queue.
The plugin is only the part that deals with client-side operations. It's server-side technology agnostic, so it can basically be used with any programming language, from PHP, to ColdFusion, to ASP.NET, Ruby, etc..
